The aerial survey of the destruction of Mt. Kenya, Imenti and Ngare Ndare forests was undertaken to provide a rapid systematic assessment and monitorable baseline information on these forests, as a sample to represent the other forests in the country. It was specifically carried-out in response to requests to Kenya Wildlife Service by various institutions, NGOs, including the Kenya Forests Working Group, conservationists and community groups.

Maintaining military readiness by managing ozone depleting substances: guidelines for armed forces in developing countries

The information in this guide was compiled from interviews with members of the armed forces responsible for implementing programmes that comply with the Montreal Protocol. Additional information was obtained from military organizations taking part in a series of three international workshops on the role of the armed forces in implementing the Montreal Protocol. Contributors include military organizations in NATO and other European countries, and countries with economies in transition (CEITs), as well as Article 5 countries in Africa, Asia, the Pacific region, the Indian Ocean, and South and Central America.
