Arab Co-operation for the Protection and Development of the Marine Environment and Coastal Area Resources of the Mediterranean. UNEP Regional Seas Reports and Studies No. 52
United Nations Environment Programme

The First Meeting of Arab Mediterranean Coastal States and Meeting of the Arab Council for the Marine Environment convened by the Arab League Educational Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) in Damascus, Syria, December 1982, called for increased co-operation among Arab Mediterranean Coastal States in the protection of the marine environment and coastal areas resources through, among others, the development of a sub-regional agreement between these countries. Before examining. the prospects for increased Arab co-operation the present report reviews the participation of Arab States in the Mediterranean Action Plan as part of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Regional Seas Programme. The paper concludes by suggesting specific elements which may serve as a basis for increased co-operation among Arab Mediterranean Coastal States.

The science of nutrition, nutrItionolo, is concerned with quantitative regularities of metabolism reactions how much of every substance is consumed and formed in the process of vital activity.
This quantitative principle allows to elaborate phyalo- logical norms for needs of the human organism in nutritive substances end, thus, norms of consumption in foodstuffs.

Mycotoxins—Biogenesis and Mechanism of Action
United Nations Environment Programme, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations

The study of principles governing the biosynthesis of mycotoxins by microscopic fungi, the determination of the sequence of reactions of biotransformation of mycotoxins in on animal organism, and the decoding of molecular and cellular mechanisms of their action are definitely the most important research trends in the area of mycotoxins. Considering that prevention of the formation of mycotoxins by producer fungi is the most effective measure of prophylaxis of alimentary mycotoxicoses in man and farm animals, one can fully appreciate the attention given by mycologists and biochemists to the peculiar features of mycotoxin biogenesis under various environmental conditions. It is likewise natural that all medical measures towards the removal or decreasing the extent of toxic action of mycotoxins upon men or animal should be founded upon thorough understanding of the metabolism of these foreign compounds and the mechanism of their action on the cellular and molecular levels.

L'écologie, la gestion et l'efficacité des paturages - Le recueil des matériaux d'études des courses internationaux volume I
United Nations Environment Programme, USSR Commission for UNEP
