Emissions Gap Reports, Reports and Books Emissions Gap Report 2019 United Nations Environment Programme
This tenth edition of the United Nations Environment
Programme (UNEP) Emissions Gap Report provides
the latest assessment of scientific studies on current and
estimated future greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and
compares these with the emission levels permissible for
the world to progress on a least-cost pathway to achieve
the goals of the Paris Agreement. This difference between
“where we are likely to be and where we need to be” has
become known as the ‘emissions gap’. As in previous years, this report explores some of the
most promising and applicable options available for
countries to bridge the gap, with a focus on how to create
transformational change and just transitions. Reflecting on
the report’s overall conclusions, it is evident that incremental
changes will not be enough and there is a need for rapid and
transformational action.

Reports and Books, Emissions Gap Reports Emissions Gap Report 2018 United Nations Environment Programme
This 9th edition of the Emissions Gap Report assesses the latest scientific studies on current and estimated future greenhouse gas emissions and compares these with the emission levels permissible for the world to progress on a least-cost pathway to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement. This difference between “where we are likely to be and where we need to be” is known as the ‘emissions gap’. As in previous years, the report explores some of the most important options available for countries to bridge the gap. This report has been prepared by an international team of leading scientists, assessing all available information, including that published in the context of the IPCC Special Report, as well as in other recent scientific studies. This year’s report presents the newest assessment of the emissions gap in 2030 between emission levels under full implementation of the unconditional and conditional NDCs and those consistent with least-cost pathways to stay below 2°C and 1.5°C respectively.

Emissions Gap Reports, Reports and Books The Emissions Gap Report 2016: A UNEP Synthesis Report United Nations Environment Programme
In line with previous reports, the objective of the 2016 Emissions Gap Report is to provide an up-to-date scientific assessment of the global progress towards the emissions reductions required to be on track to meet the long-term goal of the UNFCCC. In particular, this year the report emphasizes the implications of the Paris Agreement’s strengthened goal of holding the increase in the global average temperature to well below 2°C, and to pursue efforts to limit the temperature increase to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels for immediate and longer-term mitigation action.

Reports and Books, Emissions Gap Reports Bridging the emissions gap: a UNEP synthesis report United Nations Environment Programme
This report explains to decision-makers and stakeholders the range of potential options available to close the emissions gap in 2020. It includes a package of ideas beginning with the big picture from the modeling community, then focusing on opportunities to reduce emissions from international sources of emissions, and finally highlighting current national efforts in important emitter countries.
