African Ministers Endorse the African Environmental Education and Training Action Plan (AEETAP) 2015 – 2024 United Nations Environment Programme
African Ministers of Environment recently endorsed the African Environmental Education and Training Action Plan (AEETAP) 2015 – 2024, at the 15th Ordinary Session of the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEM), held in Dusit Hotel, Cairo, Egypt, on 3 March 2015. Endorsed as a living document, AEETAP will contribute to the achievement of the African Regional Flagship Programmes, the Action Plan of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development, Africa Union Agenda 2063 and the Post 2015 SGD – Goal 4 (Education). The main objective of the AEETAP is to enhance community environmental education and training within the continent, through various formal education; training; life-long learning; and capacity building programmes and projects. These are envisaged to fundamentally enhance the environmental, societal and economic state of Africa for the benefit of Africa’s people, and closely aligned to the 5 AMCEN Flagship Programmes.

Implementation of Governing Council decision 27/2: Stakeholder engagement in the United Nations Environment Programme: Report of the Executive Director United Nations Environment Programme
The present report sets forth proposed new mechanisms to promote transparency and the effective engagement of civil society in the work of the governing body and its subsidiary bodies, reflecting the results of consultations with the Committee of Permanent Representatives to UNEP. Without prejudice to the further work of the Committee on this matter, the proposed mechanisms, as set out in the annex to the present report, are herewith submitted to the United Nations Environment Assembly for its consideration.

World Environmental Situation: Report of the Executive Director United Nations Environment Programme
The present report provides an overview of the fifth Global Environment Outlook report, processes and outcomes. In addition, pursuant to section IV of Governing Council decision 26/2, it provides information on the pilot proof-of-concept phase of the UNEP-Live platform and an interimreport on the status of the platform.

Implementation of the Water Policy and Strategy of the United Nations Environment Programme for the period 2009–2011: Report of the Executive Director United Nations Environment Programme
The present document provides a report on progress in the implementation of the water policy and strategy of the United Nations Environment Programme for the period 2007–2012 adopted by the Governing Council by its decision 24/16 A of 9 February 2007. It provides information on activities undertaken pursuant to the policy and strategy since the twenty-fifth session of the Governing Council, and lessons learned from its implementation. Given that the water policy and strategy conclude in 2012, it also suggests actions for a way forward.

Enhanced coordination across the United Nations system, including the Environment Management Group: Report of the Executive Director United Nations Environment Programme
Pursuant to paragraph 4 of decision 26/11 of the Governing Council of the United Nations Environment Programme, the document provides a progress report on the work of the Environment Management Group and suggests that the Council adopt a decision in that regard. The report is presented together with directions for further work, as decided by the senior officials of the Group at their seventeenth meeting, on 19 September 2011. It presents information on the Group’s contribution to the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in terms of enhanced coherence in programming environmental activities in the United Nations system, including mainstreaming, and enhanced sustainability of policies, management practices and operations in the United Nations system.
