	Meeting reports and proceedings Report of the African Ministerial Meeting on Energy During the World Summit on Sustainable Development held in Johannesburg, South Africa, from 26 August to 4 September 2002, a plan of implementation was adopted which called upon the international community to take joint actions and to work together at all levels to improve access to reliable and affordable energy services for sustainable development. The African ministers of energy who attended the Summit recognized the need to collaborate together to follow up this plan of implementation. The Government of Uganda took the initiative of requesting the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to assist in organizing a ministerial forum on energy. 	Reports and Books The Third African Roundtable on Sustainable Consumption and Production The Third African Roundtable on Sustainable Consumption and Production (ARSCP-3) is being organised by UNEP in collaboration with UNIDO and the Cleaner Production Centre of Morocco. The ARSCP-3 will be held from 17-20 May in Casablanca, Morocco and will be offended by representatives of NCPCs, CP promoting institutions, government agencies, industry associations, consumers' associations and youth associations. The ARSCP-3 is organised as part of the activities under the project on 'Institutionalising the African Roundtable on Sustainable Consumption and Production' that is financed by the Government of Norway and implemented by UNEP. 	Meeting reports and proceedings Workshop on National Legislation and Institutions for Environmental Disasters in Selected Countries in Southern Africa: Workshop Report The goal of the workshop was to create an understanding of the links between environmental legislation and environmental disaster management: the various elements of disaster management - prevention, preparedness, response and mitigation - had legislative and regulatory consequences and requirements which concerned all those sections of the Government, the local community and the other relevant agencies which had roles to play in the event of a disaster. For all those elements of disaster management to be effective, they must be incorporated into strong legal and institutional frameworks at national, subregional, regional and global levels. Organized by UNEP-DPP, supported by GTZ, SIDA, The World Bank The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Dams and Development Project (DDP) convened an issue-based workshop on comprehensive options assessment, which was the second Strategic Priority identified by the World Commission on Dams, on September 22-24 2003 in Geneva, Switzerland. One of the recommendations that came out of the workshop was that the DDP should publish and make available the case studies that were assembled for inclusion in the background document for the workshop, several of which were also presented for discussion at the workshop.
