International Conference on Water and the Environment: Development Issues for the 2lst century

The International Conference on Water and the Environment (IGWE) was held In Dublin, Ireland, from 26 to 31 January 1992. ICWE provided the major input on freshwater problems to the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED), convened in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, June 1992. It was also the most significant global conference on water since the United Nations Water Conference held in Mar del Plata, Argentina, In 1977. The two main outputs of the Conference, the Dublin Statement and the Report of the Conference are presented here.

Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS): Proceedings of the Fourth Meeting of the Conference of the Parties

Part I of this Addendum to the Proceedings of the Fourth Meeting of the Conference of the Parties (Nairobi, 1994) contains all of the reports on implementation received from Parties prior to and during that meeting. They have been reproduced in the form in which they were submitted to the Secretariat. Part II contains national reports submitted by representatives of States not yet party to the Convention. Part III contains the opening statements made at the fourth meeting of the Conference of the Parties on behalf of governments and non-governmental organizations.

Proceedings of the United Nations Environment Assembly at its Third session

The multi-stakeholder dialogue focused on the topic “people and pollution”. The session was introduced by five panellists who spoke about how pollution affected their lives and how to identify relevant solutions for various situations and regions. The dialogue focused on root causes for different aspects of pollution and made connections to poverty, the rule of law, women’s rights and human rights. Respondents included ministers and various stakeholders.

Report of the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment - Stockholm, 5-16 June 1972

At its 21st plenary meeting, held on 16 June 1972, the Conference, having adopted individually all the sections of the report except those giving an account of the action of the Conference on the report of the Credentials Committee, on the Action Plan, and on the report of the Working Group on the Declaration, authorized the Rapporteur General of the Conference to include those sections in the appropriate parts of the report, to make any editorial changes of a technical nature that seemed appropriate, and to ensure that all reservations would be duly reflected in the report. On that understanding, the Conference adopted its report.

The Ninth Intergovernmental Meeting on the Action Plan for the Caribbean Environment Programme and Sixth Meeting of the Contracting Parties to the Convention for the Protection and Development of the Marine Environment of the Wider Caribbean Region was convened by the Executive Director of UNEP, in Kingston, Jamaica, 14-18 February 2000. The Meeting was convened to review the achievements of the Caribbean Environment Programme and to make decisions with regard to moving the Caribbean Environment Programme into the new millennium
