Demographic and Health Survey
National Statistics Directorate of the Ministry of Finance, Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste

The 2009-10 Timor-Leste Demographic and Health Survey (TLDHS) is the first national level population and health survey conducted as part of the global Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) program supported by USAID, but the second Demographic and Health survey in the country. The first DHS was done in 2003 under the guidance of ACIL Australia Pty Ltd, University of Newcastle and the Australian National University. The TLDHS 2009-10 is implemented by the National Statistics Directorate of the General Directorate for Policy Analysis and Research of the Ministry of Finance, under the aegis of the Ministry of Health.

UN-REDD National Programme Document: Papua New Guinea

Papua New Guinea has taken a global lead in seeking to combat climate change, particularly by proposing measures to realise the carbon abatement opportunity offered by preserving and sustainably managing tropical forests, i.e. by introducing the concept of REDD+ into international negotiations. Domestically, PNG is also committed to mitigating greenhouse gas emissions. The country‘s Vision 2050 envisages low-carbon economic development, aiming to increase per capita GDP by a factor of three by 2030, while maintaining an aspirational goal of net carbon neutrality by 2050.

The annual Asian Development Outlook provides a comprehensive analysis of economic performance for the past year and offers forecasts for the next 2 years for the 45 Asian economies that make up developing Asia. This edition sees developing Asia emerging from the recent crisis and posting a strong recovery in the next 2 years, as a moderate global recovery supports a modest revival in global trade. Investment is expected to remain strong and private consumption is anticipated to improve. Inflation will pick up, but at manageable levels. Beyond the crisis, developing Asia faces the challenge of adjusting its monetary, exchange rate, and fiscal policies to foster macroeconomic stability and sustained growth within the broader direction of a return to prudence and discipline.
