Global Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Industry Determined to Support Kigali Amendment

The Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, and Executive Director of UN Environment, Mr. Erik Solheim called on the refrigeration and air conditioning industry to join the fight against climate change through the full implementation of the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer. In his video message to the Ozone2Climate Industry Roundtable on 13 April 2017 in Shanghai, China, he said, “The Kigali Amendment shows industry the direction.

Report of the Fifteenth NOWPAP CEARAC Focal Points Meeting

FPs of CEARAC gather at the 15th NOWPAP CEARAC FPM (29-30 August 2017, Toyama, Japan) to review the progress of on-going CEARAC activities as well as provide practical guidance to the presented workplan for the next biennium. Since NOWPAP itself implements its activities under the new MTS 2018-2023 from the next year on, working areas and foci of CEARAC activities will be pursuant to it.

The digital technology has been fundamentally transforming not only the way we interact in society and the economy, but also the way the development paradigm is evolving. The Global Information Technology Report 2016, published by the World Economic Forum (WEF) in July 2016, highlights that the digital revolution is changing the nature of innovation, which is increasingly based on the digital technology and associated new business models. Encouraging businesses to embrace the power of the digital technology, therefore, should be an imperative of governments. This requires, among others, the right governance frameworks to anticipate the impact of emerging technologies and react quickly to changing circumstances due to new economic and social dynamics. The WEF report concludes that the role of technology, broadband in particular, is critical to drive growth and enable collaborative innovation in many areas, from production to processes
